Jingle Bells

December 12, 2019 (Thursday)

“Jingle Bells” is easy to sing, and most folks enjoy singing it. It was not written, however, to be a Christmas song. Legend has it that the author wrote it solely for the purpose of selling it. Medford, Massachusetts was famous for its sleigh races, and the song immediately was adopted as a way to promote the races.

But the song caught on by those anxious to celebrate Christmas, and, since Christmas comes complete with snow and cold weather in that part of the country, became associated with Christmas. It has become a certainty that you will either sing it or hear it every year at Christmas time.

You’ll have more fun with the song if you watch it full screen.
