Please think with me
January 25, 2010 (Monday)
I passed another milestone yesterday: the completion of two additional years as pastor here at Timbergrove Baptist Church in Houston. I began my second term as pastor here on the last Sunday of January, 2008. Therefore, I am forced to think about where I’ve been and where I’m headed. Maybe it’s quirky of me, but these little anniversaries always make me think this way.
My first question: What have I done for Jesus? If I measure my success in His terms, I have to ask myself if I can identify with those He recognizes in Matthew 25:35-36, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me” (NIV). How well do you think you are doing with this?
My next question: What can I do for Jesus? I can live for Him, tell others about Him, and be sensitive to His will when he opens and closes doors in my life. What will I do with the time remaining in my life? What will you do?
Another question: What will I do for Jesus? Will I submit to Him as Lord of my life? Will I follow wherever He leads? What about you? Is He your Lord? Are you following Him daily?
Such are my thoughts today. I hope they are yours too.
