The Right Road

The Jesus Road

picture of CharlesThis week I had an appointment at a local restaurant. Wanting to make sure I took the correct route, I checked with Google Maps, which gave me driving directions. Turns out that was a wise move, because the entrance to the parking lot was a little hard to find. The map led me in the right way.
How do you know you are on the right road? You check the map.
Jesus said, “I am the way..” (John 14:6). The Greek word can be translated into any one of several English words, and one of them is “road.” Jesus said, therefore, “I am the road.”
How do you know if Jesus is the right road to heaven? You check the map. What is that map? It is the Bible.
In the Book of Hebrews there is the statement, “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:1-2 NIV).
The first sermon preached by the Apostle Peter is recorded in the Book of Acts. He said, “..God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36 NIV). He later was ordered to stop preaching about Jesus by the highest court in the land, and he publicly replied to the court, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NIV).
If you have committed yourself to Jesus, believing in him as the Son of God and the Savior of the world, you are on the right road.
