There’s always hope in Christ
August 24, 2009 (Monday)
Sometimes a song’s message just gets through to you as you hear the words very clearly, being moved by their message. I heard such a song Sunday morning as I sat down in the old recliner, waiting for church time to come around. The program was a Gaither Homecoming, the name of that one was “Precious Memories,” and the singer was Janet Paschal. The song: “It Won’t Rain Always,” written by Bill and Gloria Gaither and Aaron Wilburn.
Janet was wearing a wig because of chemo treatments for cancer that had been diagnosed 18 months before the program was recorded. Her experience gave special meaning to the song, which communicated faith and hope. Rain falls in our lives and difficult days come, but “it won’t rain always.” The clouds that seem to hide the sun will be gone and the sun will appear again because it’s been there all along.
Our lives have their ups and downs, good days and not so good days. Sometimes there is real suffering and pain. We can even be dismayed and troubled deeply by what’s happening, but we must hang on to our hope in Christ. Better stated, we must yield to Christ as he holds us in his loving arms, seeing us through our trials. As the song says, “He will see you through.”
