He will be great

That’s what the angel told Mary

picture of CharlesGeorge Washington Carver, born into slavery, became a great American scientist. He was invited to Washington, D.C. to receive an award for his work, but he was such a frugal person that he spent no money on luggage or clothing. Carrying cardboard boxes and dressed in an old suit, he appeared so poor and common that the redcaps refused to acknowledge him and the Congressional welcoming committee ignored him. His greatness was not recognized.
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem long ago, his greatness was not recognized by most people. Yet the angel had announced to Mary that he would be great. And he is.
He is great throughout the earth today. Now His name is known throughout the world, and he is worshiped by millions of followers. Now His love captures the souls of his people, and His power changes lives for the better. Now we know his death atones for all sins and his teachings form the basis for a new understanding among people. Now the whole world recognizes a season for remembering His birth.
He is great in our hearts as believers. We know Him personally. We adore Him because of His greatness. We obey Him because He is great. We have His power within and experience His greatness. We love Him because He is great.

He can be great in you.
Please know that you are important to Him; no one is insignificant to Him. God loves you. Jesus died for you. Please accept His love for you. Please adopt His purpose as your own. Follow His teachings as your rule for life. Believe in Him and be saved. He is great.
When the angel predicted, “He will be great,” he was making a magnificent announcement to all of us. Jesus Christ is great in history, and can be great in you.
