Charlotte Elliott was in ill health, confined to a wheelchair and sad because her circle of friends were enjoying adventuresome lives in the service of the Lord.
She met Rev. Cesar Malan and confided in him that she wanted to be saved, but wondered how she could come to Christ. His reply was, “Come just as you are.”
As a result of that conversation, not only did she come to Christ to be saved, but she also wrote about it. She wrote “Just As I Am, Without One Plea.” The hymn found a place in most of the world’s hymnals.
