I Love You, Lord

Do you remember this scripture verse? “”We love Him, because he first loved us.” – I John 4:19. It’s a wonderful verse to commit to memory. It’s a wonderful thought to take as a guide to our daily living, and a guide to our prayer life. Prayer is communication with God. Communication involves speaking and listening. Therefore, we are to listen to God because He speaks to our heart as we speak to Him. He lets us know that He loves us and we can let Him know that we love Him.
I cannot forget the day, in the very room where I am now writing this, when my little pre-school daughter sat beside me, put her arms around my neck, looked into my eyes, and said, “I love you.” There was no prompting. She just did it out of her love for me. It touched my heart. Perhaps God’s great heart is touched by our love when we honestly share it with Him in prayer.
The song for today is, “I Love You, Lord,” which is an oft-repeated and greatly loved praise song, written by Laurie Klein in Oregon in 1974. It is difficult to sing without emotion. It expresses the inmost desire to be close to the Lord and to know Him better day by day.
It is a response to Jesus’ question, “Do you love me?” (John 21:15).

I LOVE YOU, LORD
Written by Laurie Klein
1974

I love you, Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship You
Oh, my soul, rejoice!

Take joy my King
In what You hear
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound
In Your ear
