Let Us Pray

I try in these blogs to maintain an upbeat, positive stance that I hope encourages people as they read. Today, however, I am burdened by the situation in the middle east and am asking for your prayers for the millions of innocent civilians who are affected by the civil war in Syria.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization that helps children, families, and their communities overcome poverty and injustice. Love Comes First in World Vision, which serves all people, no matter their religion, ethnicity, or gender.
The organization reports that the Syrian refugee crisis is now the largest refugee and displacement crisis of our time. Because of the Syrian civil war, 5.6 million people have fled Syria as refugees, putting a strain on the region’s ability to cope. And another 6.1 million people are displaced within Syria.
Back in 2011, students in Syria shared with each other on social media and were motivated to protest the injustices of the ruling regime. Those protests were met with government violence and the unrest grew into a full scale civil war.
Loss of life has been great, including thousands of children. We cannot view the videos of children who have become victims without emotional pain. I confess I shed tears when I see them on the screen and hear their cries.
Every day, as we go about our normal activities, people in Syria are suffering and dying. I believe we should keep them all in our prayers every day. Let us not forget them. It is our Christian privilege and responsibility to pray for them.
