Not Gonna Worry

I don’t know much about some genres of music but it seems to me the song for today has a “soft jazz” or “soft blues” sound. You are welcome to correct me. The words, however, are those of a person experiencing peace of mind.
Years ago, Norman Vincent Peale wrote a book entitled “The Power of Positive Thinking.” It was a best seller for years. Conservative preachers like me scoffed at it, thinking that it offered a new way of salvation. We should have read it. When I finally read it, I discovered a marvelous way of life. We should try looking on the bright side of life. We should consciously purge ourselves of cynicism, worry, negative thinking, and all that sort of thing because it only “brings us down.” Emphasizing the good things in life increases our faith and helps us to have assurance that God “has the whole thing in His hands.”
This song captures those thoughts with a choice of words that are fascinating, captivating, and inspirational. Sung by the Gaither vocal band, it came out in 2002.

NOT GONNA WORRY
2002

I’m not gonna worry, I’m not gonna fret.
I’m not gonna speculate or contemplate what hasn’t happened yet.
I’m not gonna worry, He’s got the whole thing in His hands.
I wont let it haunt me, I wont let it win.
I’m not gonna ruminate or meditate on how it might have been.
I’m gonna release it, He’s got the whole thing in his hands.
Maybe lately I started to resign,
So here it goes God only knows
It might just ease my mind.
I’m not gonna worry, I’m not gonna fret,
I’m just gonna wait and see and in between give thanks for what I get.
I’m not gonna worry, He’s got the whole thing in his hands.
Maybe lately I started to resign.
But here it goes God only knows
It might just ease my mind.
I’m not gonna worry I’m not gonna fret,
I’m not gonna speculate or contemplate what hasn’t happened yet.
I’m not gonna worry He’s got the whole thing in His hands
He’s got the whole thing in His hands.
He’s got the whole thing in His hands.
