The God of all comfort

Let us trust Him

chas030.jpg”Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV).
“The God of all comfort!” A blessed description of the God we serve.
The Lord knows when we suffer, and He cares. Paul said in this first chapter of 2 Corinthians, that he and his companions had suffered far more than they were able to endure, so that they had despaired of life. He used strong words because the sufferings had been great. He then declared that these very sufferings had caused them to rely upon God, and that was a good thing.
The Lord provides grace when we suffer. He comforts us. He does this directly and through others, and He will continue to do this. Think of the folks who have helped you; then think of those you have helped. God uses us to do His work. We can be instruments of God’s grace.
The Lord uses us as we suffer. We learn to behave more kindly. Then, like the bread upon the waters, we find it again as others are kind to us. Such are the ways of the Lord. Read 2 Corinthians 1:1-11 today. It won’t take long, and it will remind you of these things. It will help you to trust “the God of all comfort.”
