Tell it

Tell it like it is

I learned a new word this week: “advomentary.”
An “advomentary” is a documentary that advocates a cause. A documentary tells you what has happened, but an advomentary only pretends to be a documentary. Doesn’t that strike you as dishonest?
If you have something to say, go ahead and say it.
We Christians have something to say. The question is, “What do we have to say? What is our main message?” We don’t all agree about that. That’s why we have so many different kinds of churches.
For me, the most important message for this world is, “God loves you.” This message is expressed clearly in John 3:16 (NIV), “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Parts of the Bible are historical records, but they are there to inspire us to understand how God works and to encourage us to become witnesses for him in today’s world. The Lord wants us to break free from the tendency to keep quiet about our faith. He wants us to declare our love for Christ openly through the deeds we perform and the words we say.
