Bridge Over Troubled Water

Paul Simon is a prolific writer of songs. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was called his “Little Hymn” by those who worked with him in its production. The “Silver Girl” in the 3rd verse was his girlfriend (later his wife) who had found a few grey hairs.
The message of the song, sung by Art Garfunkel, is indeed much like some of our hymns which call for us to be a blessing to others and to try and meet their needs. As a child of God my prayer is to be a blessing to others who may be going through trying times.

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
1970
When you’re weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I’ll dry them all (all)
I’m on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you (ooo)
I’ll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
