God’s Perfect Peace

When Frances Havergal learned that she might die of an illness that had come upon her suddenly in 1876, her friends were amazed at how peacefully she received this information. She survived the illness and later that year wrote the hymn, “Like A River Glorious,” originally published as “Perfect Peace.” She based it on Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed upon You, because he trusts in You.”
