Come to Jesus

Theme this week: Songs of Invitation

October 18, 2021 (Monday)

Since my blogs are no longer written on weekends, they come now in groups of five (Monday through Friday). So far we have had three weeks in which each group of five blogs followed a theme:

1. Precious Salvation (9/27 – 10/1)
2. Marvelous Grace (10/4 – 10/8)
3. Channels of Blessing (10/11-10/15)

This week we will follow the theme of “Songs of Invitation,” and we will hear five songs that invite people to trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

1. Monday – Come to Jesus
2. Tuesday – Come Unto Me
3. Wednesday – Let Jesus Come Into Your Heart
4. Thursday – The Savior Is Waiting
5. Friday – Don’t Go Away Without Jesus

The songs of invitation are based on Matthew 11:28 (KJV): “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

We begin with a beautiful song, “Come to Jesus:”

COME TO JESUS
Chris Rice
2003

Weak and wounded sinner, lost and left to die
Oh raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus, come to Jesus, come to Jesus, and live

Now your burden’s lifted, and carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain
So sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus, sing to Jesus, and live

Like a newborn baby, don’t be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk, sometimes we fall
So fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus, fall on Jesus, and live

Sometimes the way is lonely, and steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark, and pours the rain
Then cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus, cry to Jesus, and live

Oh, and when the love spills over, and music fills the night
And when you can’t contain your joy inside
Then dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus, dance for Jesus, and live

And with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace and laugh on glory’s side
And fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, and live

Fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, and live
