..my first blog..

A blog, a blog, my kingdom for a blog.

MAY 11, 2007 (FRIDAY) – Should I write a blog on the church web site? I asked for a response from anyone who might be interested, and I am very happy to say that both of you responded (joke or no joke?). So, while I’m waiting for the other 1,298 responses, I take my pen in hand, and write a blog (whatever that is).
A blog, a blog, my kingdom for a blog. Hopefully, you recognize this plea as a paraphrase of Shakespeare’s, “A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse.” His statement has become proverbial. “The quotation is sometimes now repeated ironically when someone is is need of some unimportant item,” says one authoritative source. So, it fits my situation very well today.
This is not to say all blogs are unimportant. I am quite capable of writing a blog so serious that its teachings might even keep you awake at night, but I much prefer something lighter. Quoting a popular song by Sheryl Crow, “I just wanna have fun!”
I’m not promising to be so casual in the blogs, if, in fact, they do become regular features of the web site. I’m just saying that for today, at least, I’ll try not to burden you down with heavy stuff.
In the meantime, if you really want to read a daily blog from someone who always has something to say, read what the pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas says. His column is never anything short of “Great!” It’s called, “God Issues Today,” and can be found by clicking:

So, finally, this is my first blog. My thanks to the two of you who gave me a mandate to write it. In closing, I’d just like to say that 100% of the responses were positive. I’m humbled by this groundswell of demand for blogs and anticipation of good words.
