THE NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME MATTHEW 1:18-25
INTRODUCTION: In Philippians 2:9, we are told that
Jesus has a name that is above every name.
I. A HOLY NAME (LORD)
A title of great respect.
1. Angels announced His birth
“a Savior, who is Christ the Lord”
2. Prophets proclaimed His greatness
Isaiah 9:6 Glorious names
3. New Testament writers declared His Deity
John 1:1,3; Philippians 2:6
II. A HUMAN NAME (JESUS)
Luke 2:11
1. Identified with mankind
2. Showed us how to live
3. Brought us salvation
“Jesus” means “salvation of the Lord”
III. A HOPE-GIVING NAME (CHRIST)
“Christ:” Annointed One, Messiah
1. Christ
2. Savior
CONCLUSION: His name is wonderful (Isaiah 9:6).
