Squandered or Saved

Recognize this word? “Squander.” I saw it on the television screen yesterday and seeing it printed out before me made me realize I hardly ever hear the word and practically never see it in print.
What does it mean? If it’s money, it’s wasted. If it’s opportunity, it’s thrown away. If it’s influence, it’s lost. If it’s your life…er, uh, what? My life? Can I squander my life? Are you really asking that question, when you know people who are doing that?
prodigal.jpgJesus told us about a thankless son who demanded money from his father and then spent every penny in a selfish, foolish manner. When it was all gone, he realized he was squandering his own life as well as the money. He went back home, empty-handed, humbled and repentant, and his father welcomed him, forgiving him completely.
Are you squandering your life? If so, please consider the opposite of “squander:” “SAVE!” Your life can be wasted, but it can also be saved. It’s your choice.
If you want your life and eternal future to be saved, you need a savior. I am happy to be able to tell you about a savior. In fact, He is THE Savior. He is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Savior of the world.

Wasted Years
As you wandered along on life’s pathway
Have you lived without love, a life of fear
Have you searched for life’s great hidden meaning
Or is your life filled with long wasted years
Search for wisdom and seek understanding,
There is someone who knows and always hears;
Give it up! Give it up! The Load you’re bearing!
You can’t go on in a life of wasted years.
Wasted years, wasted years oh how foolish
As you walk on in darkness and fear
Turn around, turn around, God is calling,
He’s calling you from a life of wasted years.
