The hymn for today is “Just A Little Talk with Jesus.” It is a famous quartet song. It is sometimes arranged so that it has a lead singer with a backup group, like the one in this blog with George Jones as soloist. It is, indeed, a message about prayer, which can be thought of as “a little talk with Jesus.” It is a wonderful song with a serious message. Before Jesus provided access to the Father through His cross, no one had the nerve to suggest having “a little talk with Jesus.”
The song is a message about becoming a Christian — being rescued by the Lord and saved from sin. It is therefore sensible to “have a little talk with Jesus” to thank Him for saving us and making Himself available to us for fellowship as we walk each day with Him. It is a message of encouragement as He becomes our Friend who walks with us day by day.
The little talks we have with Jesus sustain and strengthen us as we meet the trials and troubles of life. Our cries may be faint but He hears us and answers us in oh, so many ways from day to day. Have you had your talk with Jesus today?
