Suddenly it’s December.
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and with it the oft mentioned “Black Friday,” which seemed to me to get more publicity this year than Thanksgiving itself.
December brings Christmas, and all the many wonderful emphases upon the birth of Jesus Christ. The sermons give us new insights into this wonderful event and offers suggestions for practical applications of its truths. The choir brings us a special concert all about Jesus and the impact of His Advent upon this old world. Television offers specials in drama, music, etc. The Symphony orchestra presents a special concert. All sorts of ideas about how to bless and help others less fortunate than ourselves are shared with us. One year not so long ago, Rockport even had a “White Christmas,” a very rare happening indeed.
So, it’s here. Enjoy it. Let it bless you. Let it move you to care about others. Let it lead you to believe in the Savior with all your heart. May God’s greatest gift inspire you to give of your best. The day of Christmas is weeks away; the season has arrived. Merry Christmas.
