Feeling Like..

I can hear the meteorogist on TV: “The temperature tomorrow will be 48 in the morning and rise to 58 in the afternoon. But take a look at this, the “Feel Like” temperature will be 65. That’s the way they describe today what once was dubbed, “the wind chill factor” or “the heat index.” I think I prefer “feels like” because nobody has to explain that–we all get it.
My interim pastorate at Bethel Baptist Church in Ingleside will soon be over as the church calls a new pastor. I’ll be out of a job, but I will still “feel like” a pastor.
A few applications of the “feel like” principle:

I’ve been single for 12 years, but I still “feel like” a husband.
My children range in age from 47 to 59, but I still feel like a “Daddy.”
My parents have all passed away, but sometimes I still “feel like” a child.
I have diplomas and degrees but I often “feel like” I’ve got a lot to learn.

There’s more: I “feel like” I’m saved, and I am. I “feel like” I have a home in Heaven, and I do. I “feel like” God loves me, and He does. I “feel like” I love God, and I do. I “feel like” something good’s about to happen, and it often does. I “feel like” I ought to do more for others, and I should. I “feel like” most people are good at heart, and they are. I “feel like” I’m going to miss this life when it’s done, but I know Jesus has prepared a place for me over yonder, and that place is with Him. I “feel like” shouting for joy. Hallelujah!
Hey, how ya’ feelin’?
