“Oh, the humanity..”-excerpt from radio broadcast describing the Hindenburg Airship Disaster

Today marks the 76th anniversary of the awful Hindenburg airship disaster of 1937.
The German airship Hindenburg, the largest dirigible ever built, burst into flames and collapsed to the ground while attempting to moor at Lakehurst, New Jersey. As the airship burst into flames it crashed 200 feet to the ground and the hull of the airship incinerated within seconds as the hydrogen core ignited.
Thirty-six people died as the airship tried to dock after a three-day flight from Frankfurt, flying over Boston and New York on its way to its destination in New Jersey.

Devotional Thought:
The ship had made round trip flights from Germany to South America and plans had been made for at least ten such trips to the United States, but in a matter of seconds all plans ceased. Suddenly thirty-six people left this world and entered the next. We never know what a day may hold. Jesus taught us to live upright lives of which we will not be ashamed if suddenly we are taken from this life. The Apostle Paul warned us that we will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to give account of ourselves. None of us is exempt from that appearance. Are you prepared?
