October 28, 2020 (Wednesday)

Thank you for your prayers for Jennifer. I was wrong about the date. The surgery took place today. She is doing fine and after morning surgery returned home in the afternoon.

Our family would appreciate your prayers for my grandaughter, Jennifer Haden, as she has surgery tomorrow in Jacksonville, Florida. The purpose is to prevent the possibility of breast cancer. We admire her courage and love for her family in doing this. She is married to a commissioned naval officer, Stephen, and is the mother of a six-year old daughter, Claire.

There are so many things that happen during our lifetimes that we do not understand. We want to know, “Why?” and we keep on asking even though we do not get the answers we seek. As we grow in God’s grace, we gradually learn that we must wait until we get to Heaven to understand. We will understand it better by and by.

WE’LL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER BY AND BY
Charles Albert Tindley
(1851-1933)
Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand
All the ways that God could lead us to that blessèd promised land;
But He guides us with His eye, and we’ll follow till we die
For we’ll understand it better by and by
By and by, when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome
For we’ll understand it better by and by
Temptations, hidden snares often take us unawares
And our hearts are made to bleed for a thoughtless word or deed;
And we wonder why the test when we try to do our best
But we’ll understand it better by and by
By and by, when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome
For we’ll understand it better by and by
_______________
We are tossed and driv’n on the restless sea of time;
Somber skies and howling tempests oft succeed a bright sunshine;
In that land of perfect day, when the mists have rolled away
We will understand it better by and by
By and by, when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome
For we’ll understand it better by and by
We are often destitute of the things that life demands
Want of food and want of shelter, thirsty hills and barren lands;
We are trusting in the Lord, and according to God’s Word
We will understand it better by and by
By and by, when the morning comes
When the saints of God are gathered home
We’ll tell the story how we’ve overcome
For we’ll understand it better by and by
