Nailed to the Cross

October 18, 2020 (Sunday)

“He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14, NLT).

Sin separates us from God, but Christ has real power to defeat sin.

Those who put their faith in Christ are freed from the demands of a religion of works and are identified with God through their faith. This act of forgiveness by God frees us from the eternal penalty of sin, restores our relationship, and defeats the evil forces fighting against us.

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT).

Nailed to the Cross
Words, Carrie E. Breck

There was One Who was willing to die in my stead,
That a soul so unworthy might live;
And the path to the cross He was willing to tread,
All the sins of my life to forgive.

Refrain:
They are nailed to the cross! They are nailed to the cross!
Oh, how much He was willing to bear!
With what anguish and loss Jesus went to the cross,
But He carried my sins with Him there.

He is tender and loving and patient with me,
While He cleanses my heart of the dross;
But “there’s no condemnation”—I know I am free,
For my sins are all nailed to the cross.

I will cling to my Savior and never depart,
I will joyfully serve Him each day,
With a song on my lips and a song in my heart,
That my sins have been taken away.

Happy 76th Birthday to my brother, Joe Heim, Jr. I was 13 years old when you were born. We’ve always been close.

Happy Birthday to Becky Livingston, shining example of one who loves the Lord with all her heart. Continuing to recuperate at home.

This would have been Wanda’s 89th birthday. I miss hearing her and Becky laugh as they lovingly exchanged gifts.
