November 13, 2012 (Tuesday)
I am told about three great events taking place. 1. The latest “Call of Duty” video game goes on sale at midnight, and customers are already lining up. 2. The final “Twilight” movie will be shown and people are camping out so they can be first in line for tickets. 3. I forget what “3” is, but it is something that many are interested in but I know nothing about, like the first 2. I watch TV Commercials all the way through and then have no idea about what it is they are trying to sell. I am “out of the loop” on these things. The world is obviously going on without me. How mortifying.
The world is always changing. “Newsweek” magazine is no longer available in print form. It is still published, but only electronically. If a person has no skills at all with computers, he will never read “Newsweek” again. I wonder how many more publications will follow in the footsteps of this magazine that has been around for a long, long time.
I fumbled with the remote control, trying to get the recorded program back in view, when my grandson asked me for it. He took it in hand, went click, click, push, pull, slide and zipped the picture onto the screen for all of us to enjoy. I confess, it’s getting harder for me to do the simple things with these “newfangled” devices.
And these spoons and forks–seems like they are not as trustworthy as they used to be. They let the gravy get all over my shirt. I guess the silverware is getting worn out.
Oh, well, the Bible says, “Gray hair is a crown of splendor” (Proverbs 16:31 NIV). Take that, all you young whippersnappers.
