Is there indisputable evidence that you were in a certain place or said a certain thing? Technology has made such a determination difficult. By the use of computer software, a photograph can be altered so that what you see is not what was in the original picture. A recording, likewise, can be digitally changed or enhanced so that it seems to be a record of what you said, but through the use of technological enhancements, what you hear may not be what was originally said.
Technology may confuse the issue for mortals, but there is One who knows beyond the shadow of doubt where you have been, where you plan to go, what you said and did as well as what you will say and do. God knows it all. If your photograph has been “doctored” and your voice recordings altered, it may or may not affect your life or the lives of others. The record of your life–words and deeds–that is On High with your God is of utmost importance. You are ultimately accountable to Him. When asked the question, “What is the greatest thought that ever passed through your mind?” Daniel Webster responded, “My accountability to God.”
God, in His infinite mercy, offers the complete forgiveness of every sin, so that He, on purpose, remembers them against you no more. “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12 NIV). The prophet prayed, “You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:19 NIV).
All this is made possible by the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, he died for you. God loved the world so much he gave his only son so that we might be saved through faith in him (John 3:16). “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them” (2 Corinthians 5:19 NIV).
