I was pastor at Rockport, but that was not the only church I served. Before coming to Rockport, and after retirement, I served many churches in various ways. All these churches had one thing in common: the people prayed. Every time we met together, there were prayers for people whose names were called out or were listed in a document that was handed out so the people could pray for them at home. I have no earthly idea of how many people we have prayed for, by name, during these many years. But it was a tremendous number of people. Those churches still exist, and so do those prayer lists. Thousands of people are praying for thousands of people, many of whom are in desperate need of God’s help.
Some of those people for whom we prayed knew that we were praying for them. But there were many people who never knew how many people shared their burdens and were praying for them. So, here’s a note to someone out there, reading this right now:
