All the time
April 11, 2012 (Wednesday)
A man entered a Chicago Radio Shack store, tied up everyone and grabbed $17,000 worth of merchandise before fleeing. Two hours later he was arrested for the crime. How did they find him so quickly? He had stolen an active GPS tracking device, which broadcast its position. All the police had to do was follow the signal to the device, and there was the man who had stolen it.
When I read about this incident, I thought of an old gospel song that I used to hear a lot when I was a kid. Have not heard it in years. Guess it’s not part of the current pop theology scene. Goes like this:
All along on the road to the soul’s true abode,
There’s an Eye watching you.
Every step that you take this great Eye is awake,
There’s an Eye watching you.
Watching you, watching you,
Everyday mind the course you pursue;
Watching you, watching you,
There’s an all-seeing Eye watching you. ( by R.E. Winsett)
God sees the good as well as the bad. “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Watching the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). Lest we get the idea that God is trying to “get us,” we need to remember verses like this one: “”the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His” (2 Chronicles 16:9).
This thought was very comforting to Hagar as she found herself alone in the world. “And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me..” (Genesis 16:13).
God sees and knows. Does that thought comfort and encourage you?
