Abraham
July 12, 2011 (Tuesday)
Yesterday we wrote about Joseph. Another amazing story from the Bible is the story of Abraham. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim Abraham, so, by any standard, he is an important person.
He lived in Ur of the Chaldees and went by the name of Abram when God called him and told him to get his stuff together and get going. Going where? God said, “I’ll show you along the way, little by little.” And God kept his promise.
The promise to Abraham was to make of him a great people, so great in numbers that they would be as numerous as the stars. God has fulfilled and is fulfilling that promise.
Later, the Apostle Paul would tell us what that was all about. You see, according to the New Testament, Abraham believed God and his faith was counted as righteousness. The real descendants of Abraham are those who have faith in God as he did.
Are you a descendant of Abraham?
