Thank You, Lord

Have you heard this one?…..

Behind…

Every…

Great…

Man…

there is….

A VERY SURPRISED MOTHER-IN-LAW!

—————————————————————–
Well, I’m the exception to that rule, I suppose, because my mother-in-law and I loved each other very much.

She had reasons to doubt her daughter’s judgment of what makes a good husband, I suppose, because my net worth was minus zero, my possessions were non-existent, I still had at least 3 more years of education (turned out to be 6 more years) before I could claim to be prepared for my life’s work, I wore a very shiny suit at our wedding and for all practical purposes had nothing to offer but love. That was good enough for Wanda, but there are thousands of mothers and dads across the country who would be pleased if their son-in-law to be had something tangible going for him. Even my old car was a disgrace, with smoke coming out from under the hood and windows held together with masking tape.

But if Wanda’s mother and father had doubts about me, they never let me know it. And in the long run, it turned out fine. I wasn’t such a loser after all.

In fact, Wanda’s family became my family and all through the years her parents and siblings accepted me completely as a family member. For that I will always be thankful.

The Lord has been so very good to me ever since I can remember. He has blessed me in countless ways throughout these nearly nine decades of life. Thank you, Lord.

Dear Lord, You know what we have been worrying about, keeping us awake at night. We give it all to You, for You are faithful, and Your promises of help are certain. You will never fail us nor forsake us. Thank You for Your kindness to us, Your creatures. We don’t deserve such grace, but Your mercies are new every morning, and Your promises are all firm and sure, to be counted on. In Jesus, we see all this to be true, so we come to Him and offer into His hands all our worries and fears. Through Jesus, our Lord, we receive perfect peace. Thank You, O Lord. Amen. (Don Moen)

Bible says it’s a good thing
To give thanks to the Lord, amen

And there’s just one thing that I want to say

For all the blessings I can not see

With a grateful heart
With a song of praise
With an outstretched arm
I will bless Your name
