The Name of Jesus

A Holy and Precious Name

”picThe name of Jesus Christ became a profane curse word years ago. How sad. How tragic. I have seen so many irreverent and blasphemous representations of the Son of God on television that it sickens me. I’m sure many people have been swayed by these terrible representations of our Savior. For the sake of one possible person who may be influenced by this blog, I want to quote verses from the first chapter of Colossians in the New Testament, with a prayer that it may cause that person to stop and think, and perhaps even accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Here it is:
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross” (Colossians 1:15-20 NIV).
A grand old hymn inspires us: “The name of Jesus is so sweet, I love its music to repeat, It makes my joy full and complete, The precious name of Jesus. Jesus–oh, how sweet the name. Jesus–every day the same. Jesus–let all saints proclaim..the Precious Name of Jesus!”
