Living for Others

May 7, 2020 (Thursday)

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends… This is my command: Love each other. (John 14:13, 14, 17 NIV).

Jesus made clear that Love is the theme of our lives if we are truly His followers. He declared, “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you” (John 20:21 NIV). He is sending us to demonstrate and share His love with the people we know. Do others see Jesus in you? Do they feel His love flowing through you towards them?

Do you find love a risk? Are you afraid to love others because they may not accept your love? Loving others may indeed be risky business, but at the end when we stand before Him at the Judgment Seat, we will be very glad we risked it.

C.S. Lewis, in his book, “The Four Loves,” put it this way: “If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Avoid all entanglements, lock it up safe in the coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket–safe, dark motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

Jesus loved us so much that He gave Himself for us. Are we willing to do that for Him?
