I Have A Savior

April 28, 2020 (Tuesday)

After Jesus had ascended into Heaven, his disciples remembered his directions to go back to Jerusalem and meet for prayer. They did so. Then the Jewish festival of Pentecost arrived and with it the power of the Holy Spirit upon those who believed in Jesus and had been praying, and waiting. They all shared the gospel that day in a miraculous way, Peter preached, and thousands of people accepted Christ as the Messiah and were baptized. Suddenly there was a church, in Jerusalem where there had been none–a congregation dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In due time there was a church in Antioch of Syria, and most of the members were Gentiles who had accepted Christ. It was there that believers were first called, “Christians.”

The gospel then spread to other nations and soon it became clear to Christians that the gospel of Christ was meant for all people everywhere. The Antioch church sent missionaries Paul and Barnabas to foreign fields to tell the people there about Jesus. Paul later made two more journeys with other companions.

Today millions of people around the world claim Christ as their Lord and Savior. I’m so glad that I’m part of the family of God. All of us as Christians have been commissioned by our Lord to share the precious gospel of Christ with others.

I Am Praying for You
Words, Samuel O. Cluff, 1860
Music, Ira D. Sankey, 1874

1 I have a Savior, He’s pleading in glory,
A dear, loving Savior, though earth friends be few;
And now He is watching in tenderness o’er me;
And, oh, that my Savior were your Savior, too.
Refrain:
For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
For you I am praying,
I’m praying for you.

2 I have a Father; to me He has given
A hope for eternity, blessed and true;
And soon He will call me to meet Him in heaven,
But, oh, that He’d let me bring you with me, too! [Refrain]

3 I have a robe; ’tis resplendent in whiteness,
Awaiting in glory my wondering view;
Oh, when I receive it all shining in brightness,
Dear friend, could I see you receiving one, too! [Refrain]

4 When He has found you, tell others the story,
That my loving Savior is your Savior, too;
Then pray that your Savior may bring them to glory,
And prayer will be answered—’twas answered for you! [Refrain]

5 Speak of that Savior, that Father in heaven,
That harp, crown, and robe which are waiting for you—
That peace you possess, and that rest to be given,
Still praying that Jesus may save them with you. [Refrain]
