March 15, 2020 (Sunday)
The blog today, written many days ago, encourages church attendance. But please heed this warning from the church today: “Those who are ill, those who are immune-compromised, and those who are considered high risk should stay at home.”
We all know that we can worship the Lord anywhere. Right? But when we hear the word, “worship,” the first thought that many of us have is worship with others in a church building. When we want to worship the Lord, we can find a place where other people meet with us and we all meet with the Lord: the church. “This is the place.”
The song featured today explores the many experiences we can have when we go to church. Many of you reading this will go to church on this day. Because it’s Sunday. And that’s what we do. But what happens when we get there? This great song gives some answers to that question.
This Is the Place
Gaither Vocal Band
Album Good Things Take Time
[Verse 1]
Come, my child, there is a place
When you’re lost, you will be found
You’ll be safe, and you’ll belong
You will hear the sweetest sound
[Chorus]
This is the place where we pray
This is the place where we cry
This is the place where we start
“‘Til death do us part”
Where we say “goodbye”
Here we leave all our pain
Find forgiveness and grace
Here we walk down the aisle
Dedicate every child
Here in this sacred place
[Verse 2]
Break some bread, come share the wine
At this table there is a place
Bring your fears, take His peace
Come and share this Holy space
[Chorus]
This is the place where we pray
This is the place where we cry
This is the place where we start
“‘Til death do us part”
Where we say “goodbye”
Here we leave all our pain
Find forgiveness and grace
Here we walk down the aisle
Dedicate every child
Here in this sacred place
[Bridge]
Holy Holy (Holy Holy)
Holy Holy
God almighty, Immanuel
[Chorus]
This is the place where we pray
This is the place where we cry
This is the place where we start
“‘Til death do us part”
Where we say “goodbye”
Here we leave all our pain
Find forgiveness and grace
Here we walk down the aisle
Dedicate every child
Here in this sacred place
[Outro]
Holy Holy Holy
President Donald Trump announced Friday that he is declaring the corona virus pandemic a national emergency, as Washington struggles with providing Americans with relief and officials race to slow the spread of the outbreak.
Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday declared coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, a statewide public health disaster as the virus continues to spread. As of Friday Texas had 39 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
This blog was written beforehand. Other considerations concerning church attendance are addressed by the pastor in the church’s newsletter this week:
Here are some things the members of FBC Rockport need to know:
First, we WILL have our regularly scheduled activities this Sunday, March 15.
People should use discretion and follow all the guidelines from the CDC regarding protecting ourselves from illness.
Those who are ill, those who are immune-compromised, and those who are considered high risk should stay at home.
The church is doing all it can to keep the place clean and safe, you all should do the same.
Here is some further information:
We will discontinue our greeting time in both worship services until further notice. We ask that people avoid touching one another as much as possible.
We will discontinue passing the offering plates in the 8:30 AM Sunday worship service until further notice. Please place all tithes, offering, and Welcome Cards in the baskets located in the rear of the Sanctuary by the exit doors.
We are looking into other measures and will update the church as needed.
